I work in the earthquake statistics group of the Swiss Seismological Service at ETH Zurich. My main fields of work are data exchange and storage, interoperability, and web technologies. In particular, I am involved in the development of QuakeML, an XML-based data exchange format for seismology. I also take part in the development of CSEP (the Collaboratory for the Study of Earthquake Predictability).

Before I came to the Swiss Seismological Service in July 2006, I did stellar astrophysics at the Institute for Astrophysics of the University of Göttingen. I wrote a PhD thesis on "Zeeman tomography of magnetic white dwarfs" (advisor Prof. Klaus Beuermann). I also worked for a software project dealing with web-based collaborative astronomical catalogues (AstroCat).
